Wiring and Electrical Apprentice – (Level 3 Engineering Technician Pathway)

We have an opportunity to begin your career in our Electronics and Electrical Assembly department.
This work-based apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with Valkyrie Support Services.

With motorsport projects spanning electric, hybrid and Internal Combustion capabilities, our Electronics Department are vital in developing Engine controls and measurements aids to those engine development projects.

At Ilmor you will learn with a team who are experts in all levels of engine electronics from hardware and software design to the design and manufacture of wiring looms and Control Units (ECUs).

You will work closely, and communicate effectively, with different people and departments to achieve the best outcome of each task and make improvements where identified, specifically on the following activities
• Assembly of motorsport wiring, electronic devices, and test rigs
• Testing of wiring and electronic products
• Designing simple electric wiring harnesses.

To be successful, you should be able to demonstrate:
• English, Maths (and preferably Science) GCSEs Grade 4 or C (or above)
• Basic IT skills including working knowledge of Excel
• And, Ideally, development of electric or electronics projects of your own design

Combined with this experience, we would like you to show good:
• Verbal and written communication
• Teamworking
• Ability to generate and suggest ideas or new ways of doing things
• Problem solving

We work in the Racing Industry and from time to time this can be high pressured and timebound.
The ability to work flexibly and to do overtime as and when required (in order to meet race schedules and deadlines) is essential.
