For parts with stable designs and high volume requirements it is obviously more cost effective to use castings instead of machined-from-solid components. Additionally, castings allow the designer to incorporate internal water and oil passages that simply could not be machined into a billet part. Many of the structural components in our racing engines are machined from castings and as such we understand exactly what is required to machine castings to a high-precision and high-quality.
We have equipped our machine shop with the best machining centres so that we can achieve the tight tolerances that we and our clients demand.

Sourcing castings
For clients needing to source a new casting, Ilmor has an established network of casting partners that will be able to produce a casting to the highest quality. Additionally, Ilmor would be happy to assist with the initial 3D design work, process the castings through our machine shop, and carry out stringent quality and dimensional checks to ensure the casting meets the specification that the client requires.
