To be successful in racing you need to know how to react quickly and efficiently. This is especially true when it comes to manufacturing components, and Ilmor has always endeavoured to have the best machines and utilise the best manufacturing techniques.

Very often racing components are machined from a solid billet instead of more traditional manufacturing techniques such as forging or casting. This allows engineering changes to be effected quickly and cost effectively in addition to the benefits of improved material properties and greater control over dimensional accuracy. Toolpaths are programmed directly from 3D CAD data, allowing complex shapes to be generated with minimum effort.

Machined-from-solid components

Our 5 axis Mikron HSM 600U ProdMod is ideally suited to low to medium volume runs of small high-precision machined-from-solid components.

For larger machined-from-solid components, such as cylinder blocks, our two capacious Mori Seiki SH8000 machining centres can be called into action.
