Since 1984, Ilmor Engineering Ltd in the UK and Ilmor Engineering Inc in the USA have been providing creative solutions for high-performance motorsports, marine racing, and other engineering situations that require a high degree of precision. Now we've brought our engineering expertise to defence industry applications, resulting in lightweight, compact and innovative solutions.
Ilmor KJ Series UAV Launcher
The Ilmor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV or drone) Launcher System incorporates the state-of-the-art precision engineering that is the hallmark of our long history of engineering excellence. Storing energy in a flywheel which is released through clutches, the system delivers a carefully controlled launch offering many advantages over existing launcher systems.

KJ Series Advantages
SIMPLICITY AND LOW COST
A very well-executed simple design concept.
Consequently much less expensive than rival designs.
SMOOTH, CONSTANT ACCELERATION
Minimises stress while achieving maximum velocity.
Gives a soft start - significantly reducing jerk.
CONVENIENT AND VERSATILE
Designed for use with a variety of UAV makes and models, in a lightweight easy-to-operate package.
EASILY TRANSPORTABLE
Folds to fit a standard 20' ISO container for transportation via truck, ship or plane.
PROVEN PERFORMANCE
Sucessfully used with the German Federal Office for Defence Technology and Procurement and recommended for future use for acceleration profile and rapid reload time.

Control System and Safety Features
A remote control unit will automatically control flywheel speed, enabling the operator to simply enter the UAV weight and desired launch velocity.
Includes multiple redundancy on critical sensors and fail-safe hydraulics; launch is inhibited unless certain criteria are met, minimising the risk of an unsuccessful launch.
Designed to maximise operator safety, the control system features hardware and software interlocks linked to a control key, preventing accidental engagement, and allowing the launcher to be safely loaded while the system is charged. Optional visual indicators clearly show whether the system is 'SAFE' or 'LIVE'.
